'Things To Do In London In August'

This summer is synonymous with the Olympics and rightly so, as it is a once in a lifetime event. However, there are a whole host of activities in August that are totally unrelated to London 2012, which will continue unabated. In fact some areas of this vast international city appear virtually unaffected by the games. Many of these events happen annually and help to make London an attractive tourist destination each year.

Our favourite is the opening of Buckingham Palace to the public over August and early September, which is an unforgettable experience. The interior is very grand indeed and decorated by some of histories most celebrated artists including Vermeer, Rembrandt, Poussin and Canaletto. This August is an especially auspicious time to visit, as it is Diamond Jubilee year and a collection of the Queen's tiaras will be on display.
